During the days of the monarchy the Royal Way was the route of the coronation procession. Today it is an extremely popular walk for organised tours – but you can walk unguided for free, and still be entertained by the pretty buildings and street performers that line the streets.
Historically the procession started from the King's Palace; today the magnificent Art Nouveau construction, the Municipal House, stands there. The route eventually takes you to St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle, where the coronation of the monarch took place.
The route: Start at Municipal House – walk through Powder Tower – continue through Celetná Street – through Old Town Square – cross Charles Bridge – walk through Nerudova Street to Prague Castle complex, where you will finally reach St. Vitus Cathedral.
